Acquisition will add global brand and expands oral care platform overseas.
November 1, 2016 – LG Household & Health Care, Ltd (CEO: Suk Cha) agreed to acquire the Asia Pacific business of REACH? Brand oral care from Johnson & Johnson PTE LTD , for an undisclosed amount.
Acquisition of REACH? Brand expects to enhance the LG H&H oral care business in the existing markets such as Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, and Vietnam and the new markets such as Australia, New Zealand, and India.
LG H&H will aggressively advance into the Asian markets and unexplored markets by developing REACH? Brand¡¯s international brand awareness as well as its experience across all oral care products.
The FDI proposed a contemporary definition of ¡®Oral Health¡¯ reflecting that it is increasingly recognized as having an impact on overall health as human being¡¯s life expectancy is much longer today.
LG H&H said that the strategy behind the acquisition is that it will be a part of nurturing the oral health business as it makes further R&D investment and expand overseas business.
The global oral care market grew 5% CAGR past 5 years and estimated to be worth USD 40.3 billion in 2015. Fast-growing demand from the emerging market in Asia and the changed perception of expanded meaning of oral health will make further growth going forward.
